Social Impacts

There are a number of recent studies that have been conducted examining the socioeconomic impacts that the plantation sector has had on selected areas of Australia. These studies considered plantation forestry in respect to:

  • rural farming populations
  • rural employment and
  • the provision of services

The results of the studies demonstrate that plantation expansion can contribute to improving rural communities in regional areas.
